ROMAN’s PRO-999 Primer is a premium clear wallpaper primer that can be used on a variety of porous surfaces, including skim coats, spackling, popcorn ceilings, mud joints, contractor's flat paint, and old wallpaper paste residue. PRO-999 dries with a clear matte finish and a slight residual tack for enhanced adhesion. PRO-999 Wallpaper Primer is specially formulated to seal and lock down textured surfaces.

Repairing damaged drywall doesn't need to be difficult.

PRO-999 is a specialty wallpaper adhesive that has been specifically formulated to tackle the unique wallpaper installation problem of working with textured or porous surfaces. The water-based formula is low odor, splatter free, and provides excellent adhesion to achieve professional-looking results. Use ROMAN PRO-999 to seal and prime drywall, popcorn ceiling, spackling, mud joints, skim coats, residual paste, contractors flat paint, and textured walls. PRO-999 Sealer is the perfect wallpaper primer to lock down the wall and prevent bubbling and rewetting.

For best results, use with ROMAN Wallcovering Adhesive.

First, remove any loose brown paper from the surface of the drywall. If there are no gouges, you can use fine-grit sandpaper and smooth out the edges. Remove all dust from the wall with a cloth, and then apply a coat of ROMAN PRO-999 Rx-35 Primer/Sealer to the area with a roller or brush.

The primer will lock down the exposed surface and ensure the skim coat adheres properly and that the drywall paper doesn’t bubble. Be sure to allow adequate time for the primer to dry.

Once the primer has completely dried, you’re ready to apply a skim coat of joint compound to the damaged area. For small repairs, you may only need one coat of compound. Large areas may take several passes. Make sure to allow each layer of joint compound to fully dry before proceeding. Once the repair is completely dry, lightly sand and wipe the area clean with a cloth.

Seal the joint compound with a second coat of ROMAN PRO-999 Rx-35. The primer will soak into the joint compound locking down the surface and drying with a slight tack to improve the adhesion of new paint or wallpaper. Be sure to allow this second coat adequate time to dry before moving on.

Once your second coat of primer is fully dry, you're ready to paint or hang new wallpaper.

For paint, PRO-999 Rx-35 is compatibles with most high-quality latex paints and primers.
